Ama Dablam is one of the old and unbeatable Himalayan peak for permitted expeditions in Nepal. Ama Dablam here symbolizes as a "Mother's necklace" , worn by Sherpa women as a traditions which is long ridges on each side like the arms of mother protecting her child (Ama) and hanging glacier (Dablam). This mountains is also referred as the "Matterhorn of the Himalayas".
The first expedition team to climb Ama Dablam were Mike Gill (NZ), Barry Bishop (USA), Mike Ward (UK) and Wally Romanes (NZ) in 12 March 1961 via the Southwest Ridge which is the most popular route so far. This expedition is not as easy as it seems to climb, as there is some avalanche like in 2006 and needs some rock climbing experiences , stamina and good preparations. Climbers usually set up three camps along the ridge and requires climbing permit and a liaison officier when attemtiong Ama Dablam.
